I design for reality

I'm Alkin, an industrial designer with a degree from METU. I work across different subject such as furniture, mobility, ceramics, and machines, and I like designing things that look simple and hold up underneath, in reasoning, production and in use. I've worked inside furniture with Bekaliving, whose Salvador table and console I designed and are now sold through Beymen; in machinery at Tunca, on machine interfaces, manuals, and full factory layouts; and in pharma at UCB in Brussels, on UX research.

Most of my work moves from research to first sketch to something you can actually call a solution, and I care about the parts most people skip: whether a piece can really be made, shipped, and lived with. If that's the kind of designer you're looking for, have a look around in my example projects.

Designed for a Private Client

Nuntius

Coffee Cup

Made by hand,

from screen to reality

Nuntius means "news bringer." It's a coffee set for a private client who wanted an object that could sit on a yacht or a boardroom table and start a conversation either way. The cup stands alone or on its plate; the plate works as an ashtray and as a vessel for reading Turkish coffee fortunes. I designed the form, printed the mother molds, cast the plaster working molds, then slip-cast, glazed, and fired the trial batch by hand. The crimson glaze was chosen to hold its own against white decks and grey conference rooms.

Salvador

Table & Console Set

Black & movement

in golden ratio

Salvador is a dining table and console for Bekaliving, chosen from more than fifty concepts over a two-month engagement. What set it apart was that it could be made well and shipped honestly. The form resolves as cleanly in the production drawings as it does in the render. Both pieces are now produced by Bekaliving and sold through Beymen, Turkey's largest high-end retailer.

A project for experimentation

Lok Coffee Table

Zero additives

Lok is a coffee table system I set myself one rule for: no fasteners of any kind, and only what is necessary. The parts hold together through their shape alone with friction and gravity doing the work screws usually do. It assembles in under two minutes without tools. I drew it for laser cutting and sheet bending, planned the cut so one sheet yields two tables, and flat-packed it tight enough to fit sixteen units in the space a single conventional table would ship in. Simple to look at, worked out carefully underneath.

Graduation Project with guidance of TEMSA

ANT

Disaster Response Vehicle

Post Disaster Relief

ANT is my METU graduation project, designed in guidance with TEMSA and research contributions of Turkey's National Gendarmerie. It's an all-terrain vehicle for disaster zones, where blocked and broken roads are often what stops rescue teams from reaching people. I ran field research with JAK, AKUT, AFAD, and fire departments to map where response actually breaks down, then designed a platform that clears its own path: a hybrid drivetrain, a hydraulic loader arm, and a cabin that reconfigures for different crew sizes. It merges the utility of a tractor with the range of a truck.

for PAXENTA

P 45 - C

New face of packaging

Paxenta is a new vacuum-packaging brand going up against much bigger global players. For their first machine, the P 45-C, I designed the parts people actually touch and read; the touchscreen interface, the cosmetic polycarbon panels, the user manuals, the exhibition stands, and the official renders. The goal was to make a newcomer feel as considered and trustworthy as the established names, through design rather than budget.

Keçi Mobility Vehicle

Ease of light transportation

Keçi started as a thought exercise from a week of exploration . The rented vespa barely survived lost power on the climbs to the monasteries and coves. Keçi is my answer: a light electric moped built around the old Mobylette idea, with a low chassis for balance, storage built into the middle for weight distribution, and removable batteries below knee height. Proven, interchangeable parts, so it stays cheap to run and easy to keep alive for years.

Project for Tunca Technical Machines

Factory Layout Designs

Better output from a tighter border

This was a real relocation, not a study. I led the layout design for two production facilities at Tunca: an R&D machine shop and the TIM Polyplast extrusion lines. The work was about flow, fitting production, logistics, and storage into tight spaces without slowing anything down. That meant designated forklift routes, overhead crane paths for maintenance, ergonomic and safe work areas, and a separate room for fragile, expensive stock. Details are held back for contractual reasons, but the aim throughout was more output from the same walls.
