Lok is a coffee table system I set myself one rule for: no fasteners of any kind, and only what is necessary. The parts hold together through their shape alone with friction and gravity doing the work screws usually do. It assembles in under two minutes without tools. I drew it for laser cutting and sheet bending, planned the cut so one sheet yields two tables, and flat-packed it tight enough to fit sixteen units in the space a single conventional table would ship in. Simple to look at, worked out carefully underneath.

No fasteners. No adhesive. Nothing that is not structurally necessary. Every part of Lok either holds the table up or it does not exist. What looks like restraint is really just the rule followed all the way down.
I designed Lok for laser cutting and sheet bending from the first sketch, not after it. The nest is planned so less than a meter square of sheet yields two complete tables with minimal skeleton waste. The bend sequence is ordered to be as simple as possible.
The idea is a design that can be manufactured without dies or specialized machinery, a regular workshop can manufacture with ease. Minimal amount of components also allow for the workflow to be straightforward.
I made couple of prototypes of the table first using cardboard, then 3D printed parts for tolerance check. Last step was to make the real deal. I prepared the files for laser cutting and bending at the local manufacturers site. It worked as designed.
Removing the additives is the design and philosophy. Each screw and each drop of glue adds cost, not just for the material but also for the manufacturing line. By removing the time spent on fixtures and their applications in the production line, the price of a table is minimized.
It is not only a method of cost cutting but also what would allow for minimal investment in the production planning. The friction fit gets stronger with time as powder coat makes contact with powder coat.

Each part locks into the corrospending part with tight tolerances. First the frame is laid down and the pine top is put together with slot fit. The under carriage is put in place and legs lock the entire structure together.
Design consists of only 4 components. There are 3 metal components and a wooden material of desire. Any component can be customized in color to match the use environment.
The entire product fits in a 580-89-174 mm box. The box is a simple corrogated box with laser print. The individual product material and colors are shown with stickers placed on the side surface of the box. this allows for visibilty of exact information at the shelf while keeping the packaging low cost.
It can be any color as the go to basic furniture of the city.

3250 boxes of product can fit a 20’ shipping container and 6760 boxes can fit into a 40’ container. This means you can flod an entire market with one shipment.
