Keçi started as a thought exercise after a week riding a Piaggio across Greece. Loaded with my gear, the bike bottomed out on potholes and lost power on the climbs to the monasteries and coves. Keçi is my answer: a light electric moped built around the old Mobylette idea, with a low chassis for balance, storage built into the middle for weight distribution, and removable batteries below knee height. Proven, interchangeable parts, so it stays cheap to run and easy to keep alive for years.

I enjoy my holidays when i get to experience everything a place has to offer. This means resorting in rented Vespas often than not. They have an issue, the suspension is too soft, the bottoming out adds up in your lower back. Another thing is being able to take alternative routes as the gems require exploration of dirt.
An ideal mobility solution should be able to survive and carry you and your basics. It should offer you freedom of mobility.
The Keçi or “goat” is the animal form for freedom of mobility. So the bike Keçi is meant to be that as well, enough ground clearence so you are not stuck, balanced center of gravity for instinctive control, nothing to break or keep you waiting.
Body panels are lightweight recycled plastic on a metal frame. The panels are the parts that get scratched and cracked; making them cheap and replaceable means the bike survives its own life. Everything underneath is imagined to be proven, interchangeable, and serviceable by someone with ordinary tools.
Keçi is designed on the assumption that its owner will still have it in fifteen years. That rules out proprietary parts, sealed batteries, and anything that cannot be replaced in a village workshop.
The bike carries interchangable batteries so you don’t have to wait for a charge if you have a spare. It carries two batteries on the body and uses them similar to the auxilary tank on ice vehicles, if you know you can get there you are much more comfortable.
A thin front profile is meant to fit anywhere, and a strong LED headlight to illuminate the road. Riding in dark twisty roads require your presence to be seen before you are there, and your ride to be nimble enought to pass through tight situations.
Summer essentials and everday electronics need a space you can put them in. Since there is no gas tank, you get a stuff tank.
Feel the breeze and the dust as it is the freedom that we lack. Go to that cove, explore that monastery. Do it in your way.
